new journal and caramel brownies!

caramelbrownies, originally uploaded by buttonpom.
just to let the last of you know, i have moved journals to:
http://button_pom.livejournal.com & will no longer be using this journal after i make sure everyone knows. sorry for the inconvienence. for your consideration, here is a recipe!

caramel brownies!
this recipe was given to me from my mother
& today when i couldn't get ahold of her,
i searched on allrecipes.com to find the SAME exact recipe.
i do things differently than some of what the directions stated,
so i am changing them to my recommendation

INGREDIENTS:

* 1 (14 ounce) package individually wrapped caramels
* 2/3 cup evaporated milk
* 1 (18.25 ounce) package German chocolate cake mix
* 1/2 cup butter, melted
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS:

[ 1.] Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 9x13 inch baking dish.
[2.] Melt caramels and 1/3 cup of the evaporated milk over very low heat, stirring occasionally until smooth.
[ 3.] Combine cake mix, melted butter, the remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk, and vanilla. Mix well and spread 1/2 of the batter into the prepared pan.
[4.] Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 8 minutes.
[5.] Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the partially cooked brownies. Pour the desired amount of melted caramel mixture over the top. I usually use about 3/4 of the melted caramel because i think it is too gooey for what the recipe calls for. Lastly, using a spoon, evenly scoop small teaspoon drops of the remaining 1/2 of the batter evenly over the top. Then, with a spatula, flaten out the drops to cover as much of the top as you can. I always leave part of the caramel exposed between drops to let some of the caramel get crunchy.
[6.] Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 20 minutes. Let brownies cool in pan then cut into bars (otherwise they are impossible to cut!)

ENJOY.

embrodierywristlets, originally uploaded by meikaidi.
hello everyone!

i am being super productive lately...
only problem is, everything i make has some sort of embroidery on it! i hope everyone likes them as much as i do. i just keep coming up with new ideas that i cannot help but make them, especially when its all completely freehand and i come up with it as i go. it makes it more challenging that way.

yay for green and brown! my two favorite colors in the whole wide world.

business cards

business cards, originally uploaded by meikaidi.
hello everyone!

been working on my business cards for the last two days. i got so involved with them that i forgot to do some homework :) i am happy with them, though. even though next time i will use a little bit bigger font on the front because it was a little hard to read. they were made using a print gocco. the best thing in the world! too bad they have stopped making them. i've had mine for 3-4 years and i've only used it a few times. i plan on using it more, before the supplies are no longer available.
